Are you too busy for Jesus?

The story of Mary and Martha gives us a great picture of giving and receiving hospitality.
One sister rushes around the house doing all the things, her hands full and her mind distracted, while the other sits by Jesus and soaks in His every word
.
As a woman and a mother, most of us lean toward the role of doer — like Martha, constantly at work  cooking, cleaning, and serving. When my husband urges me to rest, I think that the work won’t get done unless I do it. Any attempt to sit and rest like Mary makes me jittery, counting minutes until I can get up and busy my hands.
Jesus watched patiently and then urged her to choose the better thing: to sit and receive, to allow hosts to share their gifts, to rest in His grace and enjoy His generosity.
As we go through life, we all take our turns at opposite ends of the table. Sometimes we are the ones cooking an extra meal or folding loads of laundry, driving out of our way to do a friend a favor, or doing unseen acts of service. For most of us, this is the more comfortable thing to do.
One day the tables will turn. You will need a friend to babysit, change your tire, or share their spare room for a short time. Your hands will be empty, and you will feel the weight of a debt.
These are the moments we must be like Mary, graciously say thank you, know that we were lovingly served and simply receive it, which, in a different way, is also an act of service.

Sometimes we just need to slow down and make time for Jesus. He longs to be wanted by you.

Don't get so busy in your day to day lives that you forget the about Him.

Remember the dishes and laundry can wait. Rest in His arms and give yourself a break from always "doing" and just try "being".
After all that is what we are called "human beings" not "human doings".
"Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him; fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass." Psalm 37:7
